The An der Mühle district has undergone significant structural, infrastructural and neighborhood development in recent years. The following sub-projects have been implemented since 2018 as part of the "Quartiersumbau An der Mühle" funding measure in the federal programme "Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture":
- Conversion of the KGS assembly hall into a multi-purpose hall,
- Installation of a photovoltaic system on the KGS,
- Barrier-free qualification of the entrance to the Haus der Begegnung,
- Attractiveness of the schoolyard and the neighborhood square,
- Renewal of the grandstand, fencing and tartan track on the sports field
- Installation of floodlights on the sports field,
- Renovation of the sports hall floor,
- Creation of a fitness room on the site of the former bowling alley.
To mark the completion of this extensive funding measure, the An der Mühle neighborhood festival was held in June of this year. The town of Norderney cordially invited the neighborhood, local stakeholders and all interested parties to come together and spend an afternoon together. The festival offered the opportunity to get to know the implemented projects at the KGS, the sports center, the Haus der Begegnung and the schoolyard or the neighbourhood square as well as new neighbors with coffee, lemonade, cake, music, professionally supervised graffiti and a hands-on circus.
A colourful programme with many committed contributions from the local actors provided many small and large highlights on this afternoon.
Another presentation offers deeper insights into the individual construction phases of the funded sub-projects. For example, how does a bowling alley become a fitness track? What does it look like when a floodlight mast is installed? How many cables are hidden in the ceiling of the redesigned assembly hall? And what does the new photovoltaic system on the roof of the KGS actually look like? Answers can be found in this presentation.
