The town archive has been enriched by more than 100 etchings with motifs of Norderney, the coast, lighthouses and more.
The elaborate and valuable etchings were created by Manfred A. Schulz, a native of Norderney. At the request of the painter and graphic artist, who was born in 1935, the collection is intended to document and secure his connection to his home island.
The artist has lived near Bremen for many years and asked his friend, the former town archivist and museum director Manfred Bätje, to donate his artwork to the town of Norderney, where it will be added to the town archive's existing collection of Norderney motifs.
Mayor Frank Ulrichs and town archivist Matthias Pausch accepted the works. These etchings are very valuable for the Norderney town archives. Many thanks to Manfred Schulz. We appreciate this very much.
To the artist:
Manfred A. Schulz first exhibited his etchings in the foyer of the Kurtheater in 1987. His last exhibition on Norderney was in 2017 at the Bademuseum under the title "Sturm und Stille". However, various etchings by Manfred A. Schulz are still on display in the museum's gallery and are also available as prints in the museum store.
