By car on Norderney

To ensure a relaxing stay, vehicle traffic on Norderney is restricted. Large parts of the town are closed to motor vehicles during the season.

A ban on stopping in the zone and a zone speed restriction apply there all year round. In addition, vehicles over 8.5 t gross vehicle weight and over 8.5 m overall length are prohibited from driving all year round.

Length and weight restriction

On Norderney, vehicles over 8.5 t gross vehicle weight and over 8.5 m overall length are prohibited from driving on many roads all year round. Under certain conditions, however, it is possible to obtain an exemption permit.

Traffic block

(seasonal traffic ban)

Every year, there is a general traffic ban for all motor vehicles in the area of Norderney west of Mühlenstraße and north of Hafenstraße. This seasonal traffic ban applies from the middle/end of March to the middle/end of October each year (beginning of the Easter vacations to the end of the fall vacations) and between Christmas and New Year. There is also a ban on driving at night on additional roads.

This year's vehicle traffic ban applies

from Saturday, April 05, 2025, midnight,
to Sunday, October 26, 2025, midnight,

and

from Friday, December 26, 2025, midnight,
to Sunday, January 4, 2026, midnight.


Under certain conditions, it is possible to obtain an exemption.


 

Parking regulations

For the above-mentioned local area, a year-round zone parking ban applies, in which parking is only permitted with a set parking disk and only for up to half an hour. Individual" stopping and parking bans apply on other local roads.

Parking spaces are available (mostly for a fee) on the outskirts of the village.
